Chapter 11 –- from Signs of the End

Last Revised May 2008, select quotes posted August 20, 2010
The Comets Declare He Cometh
What is interesting about Comet McNaught is to consider its relationship to Comet Hale-Bopp.  The first thing about Hale-Bopp is that its orbit time was calculated to be a total of 4,465 years, placing the last time it was seen on Earth at 2469 BC.  According to the chronology adopted in this book, that placed Hale-Bopp at 120 years before the Flood of Noah and at the exact time God warned Noah of the impending Flood in Genesis 6.

As stated earlier in Chapter 6, Hale-Bopp made its closest approach on Purim of 1997 and with a lunar eclipse. The second item to consider is that Hale-Bopp crossed the orbital pane on May 6, 1997, which would put the time between Hale-Bopp’s and McNaught’s orbital plane crossing at exactly 120 lunar months. So a rather apparent theme seemed to be developing concerning the number 120.  Hale-Bopp came 120 years before the Flood and now it came 120 lunar months before Comet McNaught.

However, along came Comet Holmes and at the end of October 23rd it increased greatly in brightness by a factor of a million times.  This had never been witnessed before in history. Interestingly the time this occurred was forty days after the Feast of Trumpets, but to add more weight, it was also forty weeks from the time of Comet McNaught (January 17 to October 23). This was exactly 280 days, which is the human gestation period. This, of course, begged for more questions.

Another interesting aspect to Comet Holmes is the fact that its orbital period is 6.9 years. Converted to days this comes to 2,520 days and the day count associated with the Tribulation.  This is an interesting juxtaposition since previously it was found that Pentecost and Rosh Hashanah of 2007 also come 2,520 days before the important midpoint days of the anticipated 70th Week of Daniel in 2014.

Comet Holmes also appeared in its brilliance in the constellation of Perseus. It was in Perseus that comets Hale-Bopp and Hyakutake crossed one year apart in 1996 and 1997.  Perseus is the “breaker” or “overcomer” who holds the freshly decapitated head of Medusa, which is otherwise known as the head of Satan—the fatal wound to the head in Genesis 3.  The name Medusa means “trodden underfoot”.  Also, Algol was the star Comets Hyakutake and Hale-Bopp crossed and means “evil spirit”.  Comet Holmes ten years later greatly brightened and expanded in the same constellation, as if to say the Overcomer is coming.

It is also interesting that Comet McNaught became visible forty weeks after the last visible solar eclipse in the Middle East for some time.  It came after forty weeks and three days.  The next solar eclipse in the Middle East will not be visible until sometime past 2035.  That both solar eclipses of 1999 and 2006 are factored into the equations should not be surprising.

That all of the major comets have been timed and located in such a way is beyond the chance of coincidence.  This was true with Comets Shoemaker-Levy, Hyakutake, Hale-Bopp, McNaught, and Holmes.  One would wonder when the next one or two will come and how it will correspond to the group of comets. Knowing the times of the group will undoubtedly prove helpful in the days to come.
